SALISBURY - Murtis Lucille Bradshaw Atkins, 81, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at her home.
Born March 27, 1932, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Letha Goodman Bradshaw and Robert Bradshaw.
She was educated in Rowan County schools and attended Rowan Technical College.
Mrs. Atkins was employed for over 40 years for Rowan Cotton Mill before retiring.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed cooking for the church and special events.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eugene "Gene" Atkins, on Dec. 29, 2011; her son, Randy Willis, on Nov. 11, 2008; sister Weldon Biggers; and brother Robert Junior Bradshaw.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ricky Willis of China Grove, Tommy Willis of Salisbury; daughter Kathy Miller and husband Ronnie of Salisbury; stepson Richard Atkins and wife Mildred of Salisbury; stepdaughter Margie Moore and husband Lynn of China Grove; daughter-in-law Kathy Willis of Salisbury; sister Frances Howard of Salisbury; sister-in-law Becky Atkins Tarlton of Salisbury; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Molly.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Summersett Funeral Home.
Service: A memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday (Dec. 13) at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. James King, and and Rev. Randy Foster officiating.
