Myrtle 'Mickey' Barnes

SALISBURY - Myrtle "Mickey" Bangle Cross Barnes, 97, went to be with the Lord from her home, Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, following a period of declining health.
Born July 18, 1914, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Thomas and Carrie Lingle Bangle. A 1933 graduate of Granite Quarry High School, Mrs. Barnes had retired from Carolina Maid.
She was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis, loved music and sang in the choir as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Barnes also attended Liberty Baptist Church, where her daughter assists with the church music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur E. Cross, who she married in 1935; and her second husband, Ernest E. Barnes, who she married in 1978.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by her daughter, Dona Cross Baity of Salisbury; and friends and caregivers who loved her dearly.
Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends Friday, March 2 from 6-7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, with the funeral service at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Curtis Parker, pastor, and Pastor Barry Kemp of Liberty Baptist Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christiana Lutheran Church Cemetery, 6190 U.S. Hwy. 52 in Salisbury.
