NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Orville R. Morris, 91, of Jackson Ave., entered into rest Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.
Mr. Morris was a native of Salisbury, N.C., having made North Augusta his home for the past 48 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, a Choir Member, on the Stewardship Committee and the Sheffield Club. He was a former member of the Exchange Club and the Seniors and Lawmen Together. Mr. Morris was a Veteran of World War II, where he served in the United States Marine Corps, participating in invasions and capturing of Japanese held Islands in the Central Pacific. He retired from the Norfolk Southern Corporation as Agent-Terminal Control with 45 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his son Dennis Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Catherine Spry Morris; a daughter-in-law, Karen Morris, Baldwin, Ga.; a grandson, Scott Morris, Toccoa, Ga.; two brothers, Melvin W. Morris, Muscle Shoals, Ala. and Cecil L. Morris, Salisbury, N.C. and a sister, Elaine Hillard, White Plains, Md..
Service: Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jerry T. Matthews and Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Park with Veterans Honors. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Orville Morris Sunday School Class.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Nov. 5 from 5-7 p.m.
