SALISBURY - Mrs. Rebecca Elizabeth Lowder "Becky" Peeler, 55, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.
Born March 24, 1958 in Stanly County, Mrs. Peeler was the daughter of the late Dwight Erskine Lowder, Sr. and Margaret Phelps Lowder.
Mrs. Peeler was a 1976 graduate of Albemarle Senior High School. She was also a University of North Carolina at Greensboro graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. She received her Masters Degree from UNC- Charlotte. Mrs. Peeler taught special education at Erwin, Knollwood, and also did diagnostic testing for special education for the Rowan County School System.
She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and the New Beginning Sunday School Class. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and reading. She always put her family first and loved spending time with them on yearly beach trips, get togethers, and out to eats.
Mrs. Peeler is survived by her husband Kelly Peeler, whom she married on June 21, 1986; son, Will Peeler, of the home; daughters, Katie Peeler and Mandy Peeler, both of the home; brother, Dwight E. "Skipper" Lowder, Jr. of Albemarle; sister, Nash Shaver and husband Tony of Rockwell; mother-in-law, Betty Peeler of Salisbury; aunts, Sue Kosmides and husband Mike of Anaheim, Calif., and Claudine Drye of Albemare; sister-in-law, Pam Spivey and husband Larry of Pocosin, Va.; father-in-law, Wallace Peeler and wife Stella of Alexandria, La.; brother-in-law, Terry Peeler and "Lisa" of Baton Rouge, La.; and nephews, Ryan and Drew Shaver and David and Daniel Spivey.
Service & Visitation: A Celebration of Life will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Granite Quarry conducted by Rev. Angela Burris, pastor and Rev. William Robinson. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends after the funeral service in the church fellowship hall.
