Ruby Weaver Pence

KANNAPOLIS - Ruby Weaver Pence, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Morningside Assisted Living, Concord, after a period of declining health.

Born July 27, 1927 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Arlo Gaither Weaver and Jennie Lee Stack Weaver.

Ruby was employed as office manager with the State Farm Insurance Office in Kannapolis for many years until her retirement. She was a lifetime member of Centerview Baptist Church in Kannapolis, where she was active in various phases of church activities. She is fondly remembered as a lady who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Ray Pence, who died Aug. 11, 2011; one great-granddaughter, Chloe VanWingerden; one sister, Carrie Lee Compton; and one brother, Johnny Weaver.

Survivors include her children, one daughter, Sandra Dean and husband Paul of Milledgeville, Ga; two sons, Bobby Pence and wife Sherry of Charlotte and Randy Pence and wife, Kathy of Supply; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Morris and husband, Bob of Kannapolis.

Service and Visitation: The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Centerview Baptist Church, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. William Rash. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
