SALISBURY - Ruth Miller Cherry, 97, of Partee Street, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her home.
Born May 11, 1915, she was a daughter of the late B. Alexander Miller and Lottie Mae Torrence Miller.
Educated in Rowan County schools, she worked in private homes for over 50 years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Wilson Jake Cherry, and 18 siblings.
A faithful member of Trinity Presbyterian Church (USA) for over 50 years, Ruth was a member of the Lend-A-Hand Circle, Usher Board and Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of West End Community Organization, Order of the Eastern Star and Court of Calanthe.
Those who remain to cherish fond memories are sons Wilson Reed (Veronica Caldwell) Cherry of Concord, Jimmy "Bay" Cherry of the home and Thomas R. "Buck" Miller of Salisbury; granddaughter raised in the home Phyllis D. Scott of Greensboro; great-granddaughters raised in the home Alexandria K. Scott, Alyana K. Scott-Howard and Amir K. Scott, all of Greensboro; loyal niece Annie Miller Bates of Spencer; special caregiver Sarah Jordan; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation and Service: Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church (USA). Rev. Olin Bruner, pastor, officiating, and Rev. Dr. Calvin L. Miller, eulogist. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery
