Ruth Jeanette “Jean” Morris Sheets, 89, of Terrell, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018. She was born on Feb. 11, 1929 in Rowan County, to the late James Hobart and Maggie Poole Morris. Mrs. Sheets was a 1947 graduate of Mt. Ulla High School. She worked for F.W. Woodworth in Salisbury then later retired with Catawba County School as a secretary after 25 years of service. Since her retirement in 1994, she volunteered and worked at the NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame in Mooresville. She was a member of NCRGEA and SEANC NCSA. Jean was also a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church in Terrell, where she helped in the Chancel choir, Bell Ensemble, children's and youth choirs, and also taught Sunday School for several years. She furnished music with her husband for several radio ministries in the USA, Pan America Broadcast and European Gospel Radio, reaching Europe, England and the Soviet Union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Owen Sheets, whom she married Oct. 1, 1948; brothers, Johnnie J. Morris and Robert G. Morris; and sisters, Esther Morris Poteat, Ruby Morris Cashion,and Margaret Morris Hillard. She is survived by her daughters, Twyla Sheets Philyaw and husband Anthony of Morganton and Carol Sheets Graham and husband Stan of Mooresville; grandchildren, Dylan and Tyler Philyaw and Katie, Jason, Travis and Carley Graham; and brother, James W. Morris. Visitation & Service: The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, Terrell. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Rich officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Rehobeth United Methodist Church, P.O.
