Sadie Laverne Roberts

SALISBURY - Ms. Sadie Lee Laverne Roberts, age 62, of Woodson Street, entered eternal life on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 8, 1948, in Salisbury to Vietta Fair Roberts and the late Basle Roberts, Sr. Ms. Roberts was a graduate of J.C. Price High School and Livingstone College and had retired from Livingstone College.

A member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher, teacher with Vacation Bible School, member of the Prayer Ministry, Outreach Ministry and Missionary Ministry.

A sister, Evangelist Gladys Roberts Steele, also preceded her in death.

Those who shall forever cherish her memory are sons Aubrey "Sean" Roberts (Tasha), Charlotte and Marcus A. Roberts, Cary; mother Vietta Fair Roberts, Salisbury; brother Basil Roberts, Jr., Salisbury; sisters Evangelist Vicky Hyman, Rev. Dr. Karen R. Miller (Rev. Dr. Calvin Miller), VeEtta Roberts, all of Salisbury, Ruth D. Roberts, Winston-Salem, and Catherine V. Roberts, Charlotte; aunts Avis Fair Wilkins Monroe and Pearl Roberts, both of Salisbury; four grandchildren; god daughter Shayla Fields, Salisbury; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Service and Visitation: Funeral services are Wednesday at 12 noon at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time. Rev. Dr. Clary Phelps, pastor, will serve as eulogist. Burial will follow the service at Rowan Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was always kind and patient with her younger sisters and myself since we stayed under foot quite a bit at times.
