Ms. Virginia Elease Reid, 101, departed this earthly life on Friday Sept. 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving daughter and grandson at her residence. She was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Cabarrus County, and was the daughter of the late John F. Reid and Cora Moore Reid. Ms. Reid was educated in the public schools of Kannapolis and Rowan County. She was the third youngest child of eleven children. She retired from Pallister Furniture Company. Ms. Reid and her sister, Mrs. Juanita Brown began their business of making custom draperies and slipcovers in and around the Salisbury area. A loyal and devoted member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, she served as a Choir member, Deacon, a member of Presbyterian Women and the Adult Sunday school class. In the community, she joined the Eastside Community Club during its early inception and worked with several other community organizations. She was very active with Rufty Holmes Senior Center and attended water aerobics twice a month until June 2016. She continued to sew and make custom draperies until her health declined. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by siblings, Harry, Erma, Roland, Otis, Frank, Ophelia, Pauline, Juanita and Helen. As a centenarian, Ms. Reid was awarded in May 2018 for her years of dedicated and continuous service to Trinity Presbyterian Church USA from 1938- 2018. She leaves precious and loving memories to her devoted daughter, Monica R. Green of the home; grandson, Guam R. Reid, Charlotte; great-granddaughter, Alexis Gray, Lexington, Ky.; and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Arrangements: Services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Salisbury, visitation at 3 p.m. and memorial service at 4 p.m. with Rev. Olen V. Bruner, Pastor officiating.
