John F. Waller Sr.

SALISBURY - John Franklin Waller Sr., 90, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at his residence.

He was born July 28, 1923, in Rowan County, the son of the late TJ Waller and Margaret Hyde. He was the youngest of nine children.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, where he received the Purple Heart. He worked for Carolina Rubber Hose.

Frank was a 60-year member of Harold B. Jarrett American Legion, a member of the 40&8, the Masons and the Shriners.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary Ann Waller; and son John Franklin Waller Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, John F. Waller III (Kam), Kristen Waller Agner (Nathan); and great-grandchildren McKinley Waller, Larson Waller, William Agner and Spencer Agner.

Graveside Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 4 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144, with Rev. Carroll Robinson officiating. Full military honors by the Lyerly Funeral Home Volunteer Honor Guard. Reception to follow at the home of Tim and Marty Smith, 4 Beauregard Drive, Spencer, NC 28159.
