Mary J. Hart

SALISBURY - Mary Pearl Johnston Hart, 87, of Trinity Oaks, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014.

Born May 27, 1926, in Mooresville, she was the daughter of the late W. Ross and Pearl Lea Johnston. Mrs. Hart attended Mooresville City Schools and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Queens College in Charlotte.

Mrs. Hart was a retired school teacher for Davidson Elementary School and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury.

Mrs. Hart was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Samuel T. Hart; and brother William Lea Johnston.

She is survived by her niece, Elizabeth Johnston Arthurs; stepchildren Patricia Carstensen and Elizabeth Harris; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Mooresville, with Dr. Randy Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor immediately following the service.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Oaks Scholarship Fund, 728 Klumac Road, Salisbury, NC 28144.
