Lorene Plyler Deal

MOORESVILLE - Lorene Plyler Deal, originally of Salisbury, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Genesis Health Care in Mooresville.

Lorene was born Sept. 22, 1923 in Kannapolis. She was the daughter of the late Edna Odell Plyler and Edward Dewey Plyler of Cleveland.

Lorene was a lifelong member of Mount Hope United Church of Christ in Salisbury. She was a church member as well as a member of the Ladies Sunday School. She was a very active member until her health no longer permitted it in 2005. She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon in 1988 after 44 years of service. She loved her family, sewing, cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Leonard Deal, Jr.; brother, Clark Plyler; sisters, Matie Hill, Lucille Christie, Doris Overcash and Joyce Brown.

Those left to cherish her memory are son, Leonard Deal (Diane) of Granite Quarry; daughter, Barbara Hammer (Forrest) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Brian and Brandon Deal and Meredith and Dustin Corl (Tanisha and Anthony); one great-grandchild, Mattie; sisters, Bonnie Whitman, Margie Hartsell and Wilma Tonye; many nieces and nephews; and the family of Forrest Hammer, Jack, Emily, Whitney (Geoff and Benton).

Visitation: Visitation will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Mount Hope Church, 7004 Old Concord Road, Salisbury, from 12:30-2 p.m. with funeral service following at 2 p.m. at the church. A private family burial will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in China Grove, following the service.

Our special thanks to the nursing staff at Genesis Health Care - Mooresville Center for their compassionate and loving care given to Lorene for the past six years.

Memorials:Memorials may be made to Mount Hope Church, 7004 Old Concord Road, Salisbury, NC 28146 to the Carl and Lorene Deal Memorial Fund because of their love for the church and all of their dear friends there.
