Margaret R. Mahaley

SALISBURY - Margaret Rose Mahaley, 92, of Salisbury, died March 31, 2014, at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

She was born June 2, 1921, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late David Henry Mahaley and Maggie Kesler Mahaley.

Ms. Mahaley graduated from Granite Quarry High School in 1939 and retired from Hobson and Reynolds Insurance of Salisbury. She was a member of Credit Women's Association and was a volunteer for Hospice, Novant/Rowan Medical Center, Presbyterian and Mercy Hospital.

Margaret loved to travel, walk, and had a special affection for Boston Terriers. Her last was named Muggins.

Ms. Mahaley was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for 39 years. She was secretary/treasurer and group chair of Whitener/Sigmon WELCA Group. Margaret was baptized and confirmed at Union Lutheran Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers W. White, Arnold, Vance and Dietz Mahaley; and sister Elva Robertson.

Those left to cherish her memory are nieces Patty Miller and husband Wayne, Brenda Mahaley, Terri Warren; nephew David Mahaley; and sisters-in-law Catherine Mahaley and Irene Mahaley. Survivors also include beloved family members.

Visitation: 10:30-11 a.m. Thursday, April 3 at St. John's Chapel Narthex, 200 W. Innes St., Salisbury, NC 28144.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3 at St. John's Lutheran Church Chapel. Entombment to follow at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Community Center Road, Salisbury, NC 28144.
