Ronald F. Dunn

KANNAPOLIS - Ronald Franklin Dunn, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Ronald was born Aug. 10, 1935 in Spaulding County, Ga., son of the late Willie Frank Dunn and Doris Coleman Dunn.

He was an active member of the Cabarrus County Master Gardner's Club. He retired from Eshelman Carolinas of Charlotte. Ronald was a 20 year retiree of the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post 115, a member of the 40 and 8 and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Emily B. Dunn, of the home; daughter, Dr. Linda Dunn Clarke and husband Barry M. Clarke of Arcadia, Fla., and brother William Gerald Dunn of Charlotte.

He is also survived by special friends: Bobby and Sue Ramsey of Clemmons, David and Jeri Harrison and Brian Ramsey of Charlotte, Richard and Elizabeth Kirk and sons Gabriel and Joshua of Clarksville, Tenn. and Sylvia and Michael Clarke of Hatfield, England.

Visitation and Services: The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 16, 2014.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Cabarrus County Humane Society, 2010 Wilshire Ct. SW, Concord, NC 28025, the , Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or to the .
