SALISBURY - Mr. John Henry Foster, Sr., 94, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
He was born April 2, 1920 in Davie County to the late Stacy and Mattie Plott Foster.
John was a 1937 graduate of Cecil School in Lexington and was owner and operator of Foster's Motor Company for over 45 years.
A member of Second Reformed Church in Lexington, he enjoyed collecting and making wine and watching old western movies. John loved his family and enjoyed time spent with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Foster and his sister, Pansy Foster Owen.
John is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Owens Foster, whom he married Oct. 15, 1953; son, John Henry Foster, Jr., and wife, Gail of Gold Hill; grandson, Jason Foster and wife, Carrie of Salisbury, and Jeremy Foster and wife, Aubrey of Salisbury; great-grandson, Ganon; and nephew, Marvin Owen and wife, Irma of Florida.
Visitation and Services: The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 22, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell. The service will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Powles Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Mike Shoaf, pastor of Nazareth Community Church. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
