Jacquelyn Sides Poteat

SALISBURY - Mrs. Jacquelyn Sides Poteat, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Born July 5, 1931 in Rowan County, Jacquelyn was the daughter of the late Ruby L. Peacock and L.D. "Jack" Sides.

Mrs. Poteat was educated in the Rowan County and Richmond, Va. schools. She was a graduate of Boyden High School and Rowan Technical Community College. She was employed by the Town of East Spencer Town Hall and Belk-Harry company in Salisbury. Mrs. Poteat was a member of Long Street United Methodist until its closing; she then transferred her membership to Main Street Methodist Church. She was active with the Women's Society of Christian Service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas James Poteat; brother, James A. Sides and sister, Mary Ann Sides Ashley.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Mike Poteat (Karen) and Dan Poteat (Lisa); daughter, Carol Poteat Smith (John); grandchildren, Mike Poteat Jr., Chris Noles, Lance Corporal Samuel Poteat, USMC; and great-grandchildren, Madison Leigh Noles and Hannah Kimberlee Poteat.

Service and Visitation:Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Rowan Memorial Park, Masonic Section with Rev. Anna Mandlestamm of Main Street Methodist Church. The family will visit with friends following the service at the cemetery.
