Dennis D. Butler

SALISBURY - Mr. Dennis D. Butler, 61, of Salisbury, passed away surrounded by his wife and children on Friday, May 9, 2014, at his home.

Dennis was born Sept. 14, 1952, in Au-gusta, Ga., to the late Roberta Dellinger Butler and DeWitt Jefferson Butler. He was a graduate of Salisbury High School in 1970, received his Bache-lor's Degree in Criminal Justice in 1974 from UNCC and received his Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1976 from UNCC.

Dennis worked for the Department of Justice as a Federal Probation Officer in North Carolina until his retirement in 2009; he then worked part-time at the YMCA.

He was a lifelong member of Milford Hills Baptist Church; was a Deacon of the church; and was also caretaker of the church. Dennis was a true family man.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sarah Ray Butler, who he married May 15, 1976; three sons: Matthew Butler and wife Emily of Salisbury, Adam Butler of Charlotte, Andrew Butler of Raleigh; one daughter, Amber Middles-warth and husband Doug of Denver, N.C. Also left to cherish his memory are his three precious grandchildren, Allie and Lylah Middleswarth and Bodie Butler.

Visitation and Service: Visitation will be held 4-5 p.m. Tuesday (May 13) at Milford Hills Baptist Church and a Celebration of Life service will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Milford Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Beck officiating.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Milford Hills Bap-tist Church, 1238 E. Colon-ial Drive, Salisbury, NC 28144.
