Cathy Jo Harwood

SALISBURY - Mrs. Cathy Jo Harwood, 58, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.

Born Dec. 12, 1955, in Dayton, Ohio, Cathy was the daughter of the late Jackie Thompson Callahan and Joe Callahan.

Mrs. Harwood was a graduate of Hickory High School. She worked as store manager for Lowes in Brevard and as assistant store manager for CVS in Kannapolis.

She was member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Hickory. Mrs. Harwood was devoted to her family, with many people knowing her as "Mother Harwood."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Harwood, Feb. 2, 1996.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stephanie Cunningham of Salisbury; stepdaughter Donna Sanders of China Grove; son Greg Bailey of Charlotte; grandchildren Brooke Cunningham, Conna Blackwell Williams (Jason), Marie Blackwell Peterson (Josh); and special companion Mike Houser.

Arrangements: Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at Summersett Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. in Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Kirby of First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
