The Guest Book is expired.
SALISBURY - Iona Wade Kesler, 85, of Salisbury and formerly of Southport, won the race Thursday, May 15, 2014. She stayed the course and now has claimed her prize, eternity with Jesus and a home in heaven.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Wade and Maggie Wade Poole, and her husband of 60 plus years, Myron Kesler.
Most folks knew her as "Onie" and the nurses and staff of Trinity Oaks treated her so kindly and loved her laughter and affectionate ways. She was an accomplished seamstress for many years on Oak Island and Southport. She loved the beach and moved there in 1986 and returned home three years ago to Trinity Oaks.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Kesler (Sheri) of Southport; daughters Ann Kesler and Toni Stewart both of Salisbury; brothers Neal Wade (Sally) of Richmond Va., and Buddy Poole (Diane) of Salisbury; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews
Visitation: The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Sunday (May 18) at Summersett Funeral Home.
Service: A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robin Albright, minister of Southside Baptist Church, officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Monday at Northwood Cemetery, Southport.
A special thanks to Trinity Oaks and her granddaughter, Tina, who took excellent care and helped Onie experience joy and happiness.
