CHINA GROVE - Mrs. June Marie Blackwelder Sechler, 75, of China Grove, passed away on Friday, May 30 2014, at Tucker Hospice House.
Born on March 20, 1939, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of Willie Mae Ford Blackwelder and the late Herman Blackwelder. A graduate of China Grove High School, she attended Catawba College and Salisbury Business College.
She was a longtime member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, where she was a choir member. Earlier in life she worked for WSOC TV and as a teacher's assistant.
She loved animals, particularly her cats, going to the beach and painting.
In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Frederick Clinton Sechler, to whom she was married for 51 years; her daughters, Ann Hall (Jeff) of China Grove, Amy Sechler Campbell (Vance) of Chesapeake, Va.; and son Frederick Sechler Jr. of Mechanicsburg Pa.
Also surviving her are her brother, Glenn Blackwelder of Palos Heights, Ill.; and sister Carolyn Blackwelder Curtis (Cecil) of Friendsville, Tenn. She is survived by grandchildren Matthew and Trevor Hall; numerous nieces and nephews; and Zoe, her beloved cat.
Arrangements: Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Marks Lutheran Church in China Grove with Rev. Keith Copeland, minister. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
