Gerald Martin 'Buddy' Foster

CLEVELAND - Mr. Gerald Martin (Buddy) Foster, 74, of 13210 Cool Springs Rd., Cleveland, died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home.
Born in Davie County Oct. 21, 1939, he was a son of the late Robert Reid Foster and Artie Norine Snider Foster. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Gaither. He was the owner/operator of La-Foster Farm, retiring in 2003. He was a member of South River United Methodist Church and loved farming. On Oct. 24, 1958, he married Shelbia Jean Cartner who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Terry Lee Foster (Sarah) of Cleveland; a daughter, Tonia Menius (Mark) of Woodleaf; a brother, Fred Foster of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Corey Foster (Jennifer), Ryan Menius and Colby Menius; three great-grandchildren, Haley, Olivia and Brayden Foster; a brother-in-law, James Gaither of Harmony; a niece; and a nephew.
Service and Visitation:Services celebrating Mr. Foster's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at South River United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Towery officiating. He will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tim Gaither, David Lentz, Cody, Peter and Pete Dobbins and Don Menius. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Caudle, Fred Snyder, Kenneth Lingle, Larry Wood, Richard Gaither and David Correll. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the church fellowship hall.
