Kenneth Leon Stutts, Jr.

SALISBURY - Kenneth Leon Stutts Jr., 59, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 5, 1954 in Rowan County to the late Kezzie Tilley and Kenneth Leon Stutts, Sr.

Kenneth graduated from South Rowan High School, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Pfeiffer University, and received special law enforcement training from the University of Louisville. He entered the police force in 1979 and retired from the Salisbury Police Department as Deputy Chief in September of 2005. Kenneth attended Haven Lutheran Church. He was an Eagle Scout, a licensed pilot, an amateur HAM radio operator KB4MUV, and computer pioneer. He received Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards and was named Salisbury Police Department's Young Officer of the Year in 1981, as well as receiving numerous police-related commendations. He was also a former board member of the Family Crisis Council.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Kenneth Leon Stutts III of Salisbury; Mildred L. Stutts of Salisbury; and Karen Green of Concord.

Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Haven Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 207 W. Harrison St., Salisbury, NC 28144.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Haven Lutheran Church with Rev. Ed Harper officiating. Entombment to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1350 S. Main St., China Grove, NC 28023 with the Salisbury Police Department Honor Guard.
