WINSTON-SALEM - William Lee Edwards, 72, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born June 19, 1941, in Rowan County to the late Margaret T and W. Leslie Edwards.
William completed Catawba College in 1962. He was a laboratory coordinator for Bowman Gray School of Medicine from 1962 until 1998, when he retired. William also received an associate's degree in Horticulture Technology in May 2002, a diploma/certification in Electrical/Electronics Technology in July 2004, and a diploma/certification in Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology in July 2007. He was a classical music collector, enjoyed gardening, reading, collecting art and picture framing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hope Cline.
Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Charles Edwards of Salisbury and Clarke Edwards (Jacquelyn) of Versailles, Ky.; nephews, Jarrett and Thomas Edwards of Versailles, Ky. and Walter Cline of Sanibel, Fla.; and nieces, Leslie Ann Basinger and family and Belinda Fife and family of Elmira, N.Y.
Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
