Melvin 'Mel' Rudd
SALISBURY - Melvin "Mel" Eugene Rudd, age 82, of Salisbury passed away June 10, 2014.
He was born in Roxboro on Sept. 26, 1931 the son of Robert and Myrtle Broach Rudd.
Mel married Nancy Sue Waddell on June 19, 1955. Mr. Rudd was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Navy Air Patrol during the Korean War. He was active around town as a member of the Salisbury Lions Club, participant in the Rufty-Holmes Senior Men's Breakfast, and could be found several days a week fellowshipping with friends at the Rufty-Holmes Senior Center. He loved to read, carve and spend time with friends and family.
Mel Rudd is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Joe Rudd of San Antonio, Tex.; daughter, Allyson Alston and son-in-law Jay Alston of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Trenton and Peyton Rudd, and many more family members who loved him dearly.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12 at Summersett Funeral Home.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, June 13 at First United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Steve Haines.
Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Salisbury National Cemetery with Military Honors.
