GRANITE QUARRY - Mr. Carl "Sonny" Moore Satterwhite, Jr., 71, of Granite Quarry, passed away surrounded by his wife, children, and special friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at his residence.
Born June 3, 1943 in Rowan County, to the late Carl Moore Satterwhite, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Millis Satterwhite, he graduated from Boyden High School with the Class of 1961 and North Carolina State University with a degree in chemical engineering.
Mr. Satterwhite worked for Monsanto Corporation and later formed his own business with his brother, Valley Maintenance Supply, Inc., in Hickory, where he worked until his retirement.
Mr. Satterwhite was a member of Keller Memorial Lodge #657 in Rockwell, the Rowan Shrine Club and the N.C. Wildlife Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, skeet shooting and golf as well as spending time at his home in Florida.
Surviving is his wife, Sandy Fisher; step-son, Russell Waddell and wife Christian of Rockwell and their children, Macie, Skylar and Elin; son, Bryan Satterwhite and wife Monika of Southport and their children, Carson, Karly and Joseph; daughters, Kristi Davis and husband Brantley of Augusta, Ga. and their daughter Kate and Paige Gallo and husband Rich of Wake Forestand their daughters, Emma and Rachel; brother, Jerry Satterwhite and wife Nancy of Hickory; one nephew; and four nieces.
Visitation:The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Summersett Funeral Home.
Service:A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20 at Summersett Memorial Chapel.
Memorials:Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church, 6725 Hwy 152 East, Rockwell, NC 28138, in Memorial to Carl Satterwhite to fund ETNOS Missionary Training Center in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
