Anna R. Compton

KANNAPOLIS - Mrs. Anna Belle "Nanny" Raymer Compton, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

Mrs. Compton was born on Sept. 9, 1923, in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late James "J.P." Raymer and Maude Rebecca Mason Raymer. She retired after 45 years of service as a hemmer from Cannon Mills and was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Compton was a loving and caring person. She was known by many as "Nanny." Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. Nanny enjoyed people and helping them as well. She was an excellent cook and loved to share her recipes. She was proud to tell everyone, that she had a five generation family.

The Lord has such an angel to work for him now. We will miss her earthly, but now she is living eternally with our Heavenly Father as our guardian angel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, J.B. Compton; grandson Tony Milsapps; son-in-law Sam Davis; five sisters, Evelyn, Melissa, Ola, Gwyn and Patty; and eight brothers, Emerson, Hugh, Roderick, Roscoe, Fred, David, Jack and Bob Raymer.

Mrs. Compton is survived by her son, James "Jim" Compton and wife Linda of Kannapolis; two daughters, Becky Brattain and husband Jerry of Locust and Peggy Davis of Mooresville; sister Polly Locklear of Concord; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Service: A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Whittington and Rev. Joel Ervin will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Lady's Funeral Home.
