Carrie Vance Boler

SALISBURY - Mrs. Carrie Vance Boler, 87, of Crestview Avenue, passed on Friday, Aug 1, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Born Nov. 13, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Vance and Geneva Rice.

Educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County school system, she graduated from West Charlotte High School. She furthered her education, attending and graduating from Good Samaritan School of Nursing, Charlotte.

Mrs. Boler was a retired Registered Nurse and was last employed at W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center.

A loyal and dedicated member of Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, she served on the Deaconess Board, Missionary, Lay Council, was named one of the Pearls of Moores Chapel in 2014, Parent Body Missionary Society and mother of the year in 2009.

In the community, Mrs. Boler was a member of Alpha Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., member and charter member of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Society, Salisbury, Community Senior Citizens, Millers Recreation Center and Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow David Boler, Sr., on May 5, 1983.

She is survived by her children, Gail Boler Yates, West Orange, N.J., Deborah Boler, Scotch Plains, N.J., Rachel Boler Qualls (Kirby), Columbia, Md., Dianne E Moore, Salisbury, Beverly Boler Johnson (Gordon), Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Woodrow David Boler, Jr. (Connie), Midlothian, Va.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Burial Rites/Visitation: Burial Rites and visitation is to be held at Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, Wednesday, Aug 6.

6 p.m. - Alpha Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

6:30 p.m. - Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority

7-8 p.m. - Visitation

Visitation and Funeral Services: Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, Thursday, Aug 7

11:30 a.m. - Visitation

12 p.m. - Funeral

Burial will follow services at Salisbury Historical National Cemetery on Military Avenue, with Rev. Carolyn Bratton, pastor, officiating.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence.
