Alice Parada

ASHEVILLE - Alice Parada, 77, of Asheville, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Elyria, Ohio, on July the 4th, 1937, she was daughter of the late George H. and Cleo Jeanette Cox Patterson.

Alice graduated as Valedictorian of The Claridon Ohio School and held an AB degree from Oberlin College. Following a short career as an elementary teacher, she was a full-time homemaker and community volunteer residing in Salisbury.

Active with Girl Scouts and YMCA, she taught swimming, lifesaving and CPR. She held a black belt in Cha En Rhu martial arts.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Malcolm Parada; daughter Jennifer Thomas; sons Brian and Eric Parada; and nine grandchildren.

Following a private memorial service, her ashes will be returned to the earth in the mountains that was so close to her heart.
