William Thomas

SALISBURY - William John Thomas, 44, of Salisbury, passed away August 29, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 3, 1970, in Seaford, Del., a son of Donna Wyatt Moore and Bill Thomas. John was a 1988 graduate of Woodbridge High School and veteran of the U.S. Army.

He worked at Timber Ridge Treatment Center, as a night watchman until he became disabled. He was a member of the Rockwell AMVETS Post.

He was a gentle soul, a loving husband, a wonderful father, son and brother who will be sadly missed. He enjoyed spending time with his children, watching sports and shooting pool. John was happiest when he was relaxing listening to music. He had an amazing sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Laura Bracken Thomas, who he married Aug. 2, 1996; children Jonathon Pittman of Kannapolis, Jordan Thomas and Brenna Thomas of the home; mother Donna Wyatt Moore and husband Paul of Harrington, Del; father Bill Thomas and wife Cindy of Seaford, Del.; mother-in-law Mona Mowry; brother Adam Thomas and sister Christie Stamps, both of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private service.

Memorials: Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 3097, Salisbury NC 28145.
