SALISBURY - David Matthew Morris, Sr., 66, of Salisbury, passed away Feb. 1, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Born Jan. 16, 1944, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late William David Morris and Ethel Boggs Morris.
Mr. Morris attended Rowan County Schools and worked as a driver for Food Lion for 22 years. He attended Salisbury Church of God and enjoyed Bible studies. Mr. Morris also loved to go fishing.
Preceding him in death were his son, Tony Mitchell Morris, on Sept. 5, 2006; and his great-granddaughter, Madison Rose Sentell, on Jan. 18, 2008.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Horton Morris, whom he married June 3, 1961; three sons, David Matthew Morris (Kathy), Rick Glen Morris (Flora) and Michael Wayne Morris, all of Salisbury; one sister, Glenda M. Moore (Ted) of Spencer; and one granddaughter, Brittany Ann Sentell (BJ) of Granite Quarry.
Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5 at Lyerly Funeral Home; and at other times, the family will be at Rick Morris' residence.
Service and Burial: 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5 at the James C. Lyerly Chapel with the Rev. Joseph LaFrage officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
