ROCKWELL - Mrs. Betty Elaine Scardina Rowland, 74, of Rockwell, passed away Feb. 12, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mrs. Rowland was born June 10, 1937, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late William Scardina and Elizabeth Sadler Scardina.
Mrs. Rowland was educated in Baltimore, Md., schools and was retired.
She was a member of the Gold Hill Baptist Church and loved being with her family. She loved watching dolphins and crabbing at the beach.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. James Lee Rowland, whom she married April 10, 1964; three sons, David Estes of Salisbury, Dwayne Estes of Seattle, Wash., and James Rowland of the home. There are four daughters, Jackie Walker of Rockwell, Patricia Bradshaw of Salisbury, Bobbi Rowland of New Martinsville, W.Va. And Shalyn Miller of Rockwell. She has one sister, Patricia Stumpf of Laurel, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Service: A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Restoration Church on Cannon Street in Rockwell conducted by Pastor Richard Smith.
