Ralph Monroe Rowland

GOLD HILL - Mr. Ralph "Shotgun" Monroe Rowland, 69, passed away July 17, 2012, due to declining health.

Ralph was born April 11, 1943, to Earl and Tilly Rowland. He worked for Young Stone for 25 years and retired from Martin Marietta.

He lived in Gold Hill all his life and loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting and piddling. He is now fishing with the angels in Heaven and will be missed by friends and family very much. He could always make anyone laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Haitz.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Rowland; four sons, Jason and wife Renee, Brian, Chad and Justin; daughter, Amanda McGlohon; 12 grandchildren, Sonya, Caleb, Matthew, Benjamin, Austin, Ava, Senatre, Alexandria, Zoey, Eva, Keira and Rayen; sister Katherine Foster; and two brothers, James "Bud" Rowland and Marvin "Tot" Rowland.

Service: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21 at Rockwell Church of God, Hwy. 152, Rockwell. The pastor, Rev. Dwayne Holt, will officiate.

Memorials: The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to his wife to assist with funeral cost, Donna Rowland, 1085 Red Oak Drive, Rockwell, NC 28138.
