I agree with Beth. Cousins ARE your first best friends and I know my Mama would agree. I know they're probably hanging out and talking old times and good travels.
My condolences to Liz, his kids, Hollis and Buddy and the family.

Rest in peace, Vaughn. I still remember you and your brother fighting in your mama's backyard when you were VERY young just like brothers do. It was so good to see you at St. Paul's Church when we all had the last gathering. Condolences to Liz and kids and grands...

COUSINS ARE YOUR FIRST BEST FRIENDS
Vaughn has always been a special cousin to me. I loved going over to see him as a child, AND EVEN KNEW THE WAY TO RALEIGH. Aunt Faye's was my 2 nd home. I can still see him at Grandma Gaskey's table on Sun, his love of cherry custard pie, and was the first to realize one Sun that the "Butter Pie" I always got to make....I filled it with salt thinking it was sugar.I can still remember his shock, his voice and expression. I always think of him when I pass the little upstairs apt on Rowan Mills Rd. I had so hoped to visit him before this happened. I always thought how great he was....going to college,IBM, and living away from our country home.
Is this where I got my love of cherries, tomato soup, peanut butter crackers and Cheerwine?
To all our family...I thought of Vaughn this morning joining his mom and dad, Aunt Faye and Uncle Bud who was taken from Vaughn much to soon. I pray he is with them and at peace.
My love to you all, Beth
