Herman Charles 'HC' Daniel

GRANITE QUARRY - Herman Charles "HC" Daniel, 74, of Granite Quarry, passed away on Friday Nov. 2, 2012 at his home.

HC was born on Aug. 3, 1938 in Rowan County, son of the late Herman William and Hazel Eve Bailey Daniel. HC is a 1956 Graduate of Boyden High School where he was a member of the band for all 4 years. HC also attended the University of Maryland for 2 years.

HC was a member of Faith Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, the Faith American Legion Post and the Salisbury Jaycees, where he was former Jaycee of the Month. He taught Sunday School at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, HC was Santa Claus for the community since 1989. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed fishing at Kure and Myrtle Beach.

HC was a Veteran of the United States Air Force from June 1956 to May 1960, and the United States Navy from 1962 to 1964 during the Cuban Blockade.

HC was a buyer in the sales department of Belk Harry from 1966 to 1971 and has been a Retail Account Executive for the Salisbury Post since 1971.

In addition to his parents, HC is preceded in death by a step-son, Larry Call.

HC is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Jane Humphrey Daniel; daughter, Melanie Ann Hester and husband Curt of Laurel Hill; step-son, Jeff Call of Rockwell; sister, Carole Hopkins and husband Robert of Rockwell; grandchildren, Chip, Tony and Blake Hester, and Holly, Halley and Bryson Call.

Service: The funeral will be on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church conducted by, Rev. Joe Smith, Pastor. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Salisbury.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Faith Baptist Church on Monday, Nov. 5th from 12-1:45 p.m., prior to the service.
