Virginia Van Patten

SALISBURY - Virginia Clark Van Patten, 86, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at home.

Born Sept. 4, 1926, Mrs. Van Patten was the daughter of the late Lucille Himes Clark and Edward Theriot Clark of Victoria, Texas. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Everett H. Van Patten.

She is survived by her brother, Edward W. Clark of Sugarland, Texas; three daughters, Karen Van Patten Sellers of Salisbury, Helen Van Patten Rudd and Cathryn Van Patten Gregory, both of California; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was an active church member.

Service: A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. at Christiana Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Carl Haynes, pastor.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Rowan County, 720 Grove St., Salisbury 28144.
