SALISBURY - Mr. Donnie Crowder, 56, of West Bank Street, passed Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his residence.
Born Jan. 17, 1957, in Monroe to the late Thomas Crowder and Betty Faulkner Crowder, he was reared by the late Malcolm Lester Bradford and Elnora Bradford. He was educated in the Rowan County public schools and graduated from Salisbury High School.
He retired from City of Salisbury Parks and Recreation Dept. A member of Mt. Calvary Holiness Church, he played the guitar for the church. He also loved to coach, cook, sports, taking care of his yard and his dog, Duke.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Smith Crowder of the home; sons Donnell Alexander, Kenneth Alexander, Nickoli Alexander, Delwyn Smith, all of Salisbury; daughters Nakeshia Alexander, Salisbury, Donesha Crowder and Shaunquell Crowder of the home; brothers James Lee Crowder and Leon Crowder, both of Washington, D.C., Micheal Crowder, Salisbury; sisters Joann Crowder (Floyd Kerr), Salisbury, Marie Allison, Salisbury; eight grandchildren; mother-in-law Nancy L. Smith; sister-in-law Pamela Smith, Salisbury; brothers-in-law Howard Lewis Smith Jr., Salisbury, Tony (Joanna) Smith, Charlotte, Bryant Smith, Raleigh; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: 3 p.m. Sunday at First Calvary Baptist Church. The family will be at the home on West Bank Street the remainder of the time.
Funeral: 4 p.m. Sunday at First Calvary Baptist Church with Bishop Harvey Rice officiating and Rev. Reginald McConneaughey, Eulogist.
