J. Cleo Grubb

SPENCER - Mr. J. Cleo Grubb, 90, of Spencer, went to be with the Lord Tuesday Feb. 11, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Born Nov. 6 1923, Mr. Grubb was a native of Davidson County, the son of the late Sally Walton and Noah Grubb.

A high school graduate and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he was a longtime employee of both Norman's Drapery and N.C. Finishing Co. He attended Oakdale Baptist Church.

Those left to celebrate his life and cherish his memory are his loving wife, Viola Myers Grubb of the home; sons Monty G. Grubb and wife Layne of Wilmington, Danny F. Grubb and wife Mina of Manama, Bahrain, Randall A. Grubb and wife Cheryl of Cary, Robert L. Grubb of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Cameron and Nita of California, Mitra of Winston-Salem, Daylon of Wilmington; two stepgrandchildren, Clark of Kill Devil Hills and Parker of Wilson; and one great-grandchild, Alani.

Mr. Grubb was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements: Funeral service will be held Sat. Feb. 15 at Oakdale Baptist Church at 11 a.m. The Grubb family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church fellowship hall.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 233, Spencer, NC 28159.
