Waldo Jerermiah 'Jerry' Sloop Jr.

KANNAPOLIS - Waldo Jeremiah "Jerry" Sloop, Jr., 71, of Kannapolis, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 surrounded by beloved family and friends.

Born in Cabarrus County on April 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Waldo and Bessie Sloop.

Jerry worked at the Concord Post Office for 35 years and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Ch. in Salisbury.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Anne Fletcher; siblings, Herman Sloop, C.A. Sloop, J.D. Sloop, Ruth Thornburg and Guy Sloop.

He is survived by his wife, Vickye Gail Sloop, of the home; children, Samantha Gayle Sloop (David), of the home, Sandi Denise Ellington (Frank), of Longwood, Scott Fletcher, of West Virginia, Edward Sloop, of Wake Forest, Bill Sloop, of Raleigh, W.J. "Jay" Sloop, III (Michelle), of Benson; grandchildren, Sierra Tinkey (Dennis), Katie Hinson, Jay Jones, Joshua McQueen, Justin Fisher, Ande Tino, Ryan Tino, Tyler Tino, Adrianne Ratliff (Cliff) and Sara Fletcher, James Morgan and Jeremy Sloop and Kristen Sloop; great-grandchildren, Larkyn Tinkey, Daryus McClure, Meagan McQueen, Aiden Tino, Kristen Tino, Khloe Tino, Rage Fletcher and Meia Sloop.

He is also survived by siblings, Jacob Sloop, Louise Goodman, Helen McGinnis, Franklin Sloop, Thelma Honeycutt, Tommy Sloop, Margaret York and Linda Menius.

Services: A memorial service will held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church conducted by pastor Carroll Robinson. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
