Erma Blondie Dillon

Mrs. Erma (Blondie) Bosler Dillon, age 94, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at her home. She was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Decatur, Ill., to the late Glenn O. and Ruby Stotts Bosler. Mrs. Dillon was a graduate of Decatur High School and Decatur Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (1942). She served as nurse to student cadets of the U.S. Army Air Corps at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. where she met her future husband, Walter B. Dillon. The couple married and moved to Atlanta, Ga. She and her husband moved around the country during his work with the US Public Health Service. Mr. Dillon was named CEO of Annie M. Warner Hospital and the family moved to Gettysburg, Pa., and then to Lebanon, Pa., when he became CEO of The Good Samaritan Hospital. She was active in the auxiliary organizations of both hospitals as well as the PTAs of her children's schools. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Southern Pines, where she was active with the Friends of the Library and local bridge and book clubs. Mrs. Dillon was preceded in death by her husband in 2001. She is survived by sons Walter Jr. (Kathy) of Las Vegas, Nev., and Scott (Jan) of Elon; daughter Diane Dillon Hooper of Salisbury, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, Jack Dillon of Concord, Calif., Lisa Dillon Penuela (Alex) of Hayward, Calif., and Christopher and Palmer Dillon of Elon; a sister, Virginia Grimm of Nashville, Tenn.; brother-in-law James (Barbara) of Atlanta, Ga.; and very special friend, Anne Serwin.
