Maggie Neely Davis

SALISBURY - Maggie Neely Davis, age 89, of 512 South Caldwell Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at the Laurels of Salisbury.

She was born Nov. 18, 1917 in Rock Hill, S.C. to the late James and Beauna Nance Neely. She was a graduate of the Rowan County School System, a housewife and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, USA where she served with the UPW (United Presbyterian Women). Mrs. Davis received a Certificate of Recognition for 75 years of Service.

Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Pete" Davis; son, Edward Davis, Jr.; brothers, James Filmore Neely and Willie Wellington, Sr.; sisters, Elaree Neely Sumner and Jimmie Mae Neely Erskine.

Those who survive are a son, Michael A. Davis of the home; daughters, Janet Davis Seale (Winslow), Brooklyn, N.Y. and Phyllis Davis Stinson (Robert), Marietta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Sunday, Trinity Presbyterian Church, USA with Rev. Timothy Bates officiating and Rev. Dr. Nilous Avery, II, Eulogist.

Visitation: 2:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
