Emily Couick Potts

LINWOOD - Emily Couick Potts, 70, Linwood, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007, in Spencer.

Born June 1, 1937, in Union County, Mrs. Potts was a daughter of the late Rachel Belk Couick, the late Wilburn Couick and surviving Mary Cleo Couick of Monroe. A graduate of Union County schools, she was a waitress at Richard's BBQ until her marriage to Milborn Potts.

A member of Center Hill Baptist Church, she was a devoted wife and loved her family, friends and her flowers.

In addition to Mary Couick of Monroe, survivors include husband Milborn Eddie Potts Sr., whom she married April 6, 1987; son Martin D. Helms (Anita) of Michigan; stepson Milborn E. Potts Jr. (Shirleen) of Salisbury; daughters Vicki Medrano and Melissa Medrano of Salisbury and Michelle Naylor (Randall) of Spencer; stepdaughter Connie Martin of Winston-Salem; brothers Morrison Couick (Mary), Bill Couick (Martha) and Darryl Couick (Sonya); sisters Donna Medlin (Kenneth) and Ann Couick of Union County and Judy Lisk of Alabama; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and close friends Shirley Stanley, Polly Rollin and Sue Hunt.

Service: 3 p.m. Thursday at Lyerly Funeral Home's James C. Lyerly Chapel with Rev. Brian Alexander officiating. Burial will be at City Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Michelle Naylor.
