Ivan Orr Obituary
Ivan C. (Ike) Orr, age 97, our wonderful dad, grandfather, great grandfather, great- great grandfather, husband and uncle passed away on August 30, 2013 of natural causes. Ike was born on January 9, 1916 in Highland , Utah to James Copeland Orr and Maggie Ferrell Orr. He was the youngest of 13 brothers and sisters. Ike married Thelma Ross on August 1, 1936. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 14, 1961. They were married 69 years until Thelma passed away on February 21, 2005. Dad was a skilled mechanic and enjoyed a successful career in the automotive industry for many years. His mechanical ability along with his unique ability to get along with people served him well as service manager at various Salt Lake City, Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealerships. He was the service manager for Walton Motors, Lake Lincoln Mercury, and spent the last 25 years of his career as service manager and consultant for Rick Warner Ford. Dad loved to bowl and golf. Until last year at the age of 96 he could be found almost every weekday either at the golf course or bowling alley depending on the weather. Dad is survived by his children, Ivan (Georgia); Jeanene Wynn (Ken), Doug (Shirley), 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse Thelma, 12 siblings; son Jim and grandson Douglas.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, at 10:00 am, September 4, 2013 at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South where dad will be buried next to his sweetheart Thelma, their son Jim and grandson Douglas. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Natalie, Theresa, Ceclia, and Wayne at Haven Hospice for their gentle and loving care of dad.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was one of my best friends. We enjoyed golfing and bowling everyday - then going out to breakfast. He was a great man and he dearly loved his family.

I read of the passing of your father. Since I am unable to attend the service, I wanted you to know of the high esteem I had for your father. He was truly an outstanding man and someone I looked up to and respected. May the Lord bless and comfort you at this difficult time.

We will miss seeing Uncle Ike at our family gatherings. He was a great example to us. We express our love and appreciation to his family for their great Dad.
