Glenn Foster Stanley 1916 ~ 2010 Our sweet, gentle dad and grandpa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 15th, 2010 in Salt Lake City. He was born on May 28th 1916 in Park City, Utah to Loyd and Hannah Stanley. Even though it was during the depression, his childhood was filled with a sense of humor and a great deal of love. He married Elaine Ross on October 8th 1938 in Heber City, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they shared the love of music. She was the lead singer and he played the bass fiddle in a band called "The Rhythm Wranglers", which included Elaine's brothers, nicknames, Tex, Slim, and Cy Ross. Together they built a dance hall in Roosevelt, Utah and called it "The Barn" where friends gathered to hear them play and sing on weekends. Glenn and Elaine played and sang together for 68 years. With boundless energy he enjoyed the beauty of nature through camping, hunting, fishing and gardening. Artwork was another one of his many talents and he left us many paintings to treasure. Our dad had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous callings such as scouting, ward clerk, and in the High Priest Group leadership. With his wife as his companion, they served as Stake Missionaries and also served together in the Jordan River Temple for 8 years. Genealogy was also a very important part of his life. He was adored by all and had a deep love for his family, always having a silly joke and a good laugh. He brought so much into the world and will be missed greatly. Glenn is survived by his wife Elaine, children Carla Hansen (preceded in death by Harley), Kay Labrum (Duane), Gail Bowen (Joel), Terry McMullin (Roger), Becky Haugen (Harold), and Shelley Lawrence (Robert). 31 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and 9 great- great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all that cared for him at the I.M.C. and Salt Lake Regional Hospitals. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the Granger 6th Ward, 3274 South Hillsdale Drive (2760 West) in West Valley, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening November 19th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah and Saturday November 20th from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Granger 6th Ward building.
