Ashley Ellis Rozell Jr.

1936 ~ 2013
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Ashley Ellis Rozell Jr., passed away on December 17, 2013 with his devoted wife and her daughters by his side. He was born on February 3, 1936 to Ashley and Sadie Rozell in Athens, Alabama. Ashley married Marina Kendall and their union was blessed with three daughters. They were later divorced. He married Ruth Martin (Vodopich) on March 10, 1990.
Ashley joined the Air Force at the age of 17 in Alabama. He loved the Air Force and traveled the world serving his country. He was promoted to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant after 17 years and was one of the youngest Chief Master Sergeants in the history of the Air Force. He retired after 30 years of devoted service and would have continued serving if possible. After his retirement, he served the Air Force Civil Service in Nebraska, Virginia and Colorado Springs. He retired in 1995 and moved to Ogden where he and Ruth began their next adventure riding their Harley's with family and friends. Ashley was always busy and especially enjoyed remodeling their home.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Darleen (Chris) Evitch, Diana (Lenny) Rayment and Donna (David) Johnson all of Nebraska; step-daughters, Gina Heiner and RuthAnn Ferguson of Ogden; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Augusta. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the services from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Ashley's final resting place will be in the Cedar Dale Cemetery, Papillion, Nebraska.
