Beverly H. Petersen-Child, 93, of Murray, Utah passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Canyon Creek Assisted Living in Midvale, Utah.
She was born April 9, 1920 to Louis (Whitey) Hale and Lois Allred Hale in Afton, Wyoming. Beverly was the only daughter in a family of 9 children, 3 older brothers and 5 younger. She was raised on a ranch west of Afton and enjoyed spending time with her mother cooking and cleaning for the family of boys.
She married Marvin Petersen January 4, 1937 in Afton, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They owned a ranch and farm in Grover, Wyoming and moved to Murray in 1955. Beverly worked for Cottonwood Hospital for many years and, upon retirement, volunteered at the hospital as a Pink Lady. Marvin passed away in 1981.
Beverly moved to St. George, Utah in 1992 to enjoy the warmer climate. She married Dean Child, September 10, 1993 in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Dean passed away in 2010.
Beverly was a strong and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many capacities including Relief Society, Primary and Ordinance Worker at the Jordan River LDS Temple. She was a wonderful woman who judged no one and loved unconditionally. We are so fortunate to have had her in our lives. We love you, Beverly!
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin and Dean; her brothers, Rex, Ted, Blair, Lyle and Dee Hale; her son, Jerald Petersen (Margaret). She is survived by her brothers, Kay, Roen (Judy) and Al (Ellen) Hale, her daughter, Myrna Shumway (Edward Lon), her son, Layne Petersen (Lynn); 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the LDS Ward, 435 E. 5600 S., Murray. There will be a viewing from 6-8 pm on Monday, July 29th, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., Murray, and 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
