Darlene Gines Clark

"Greatest Grandma Ever"
Loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, LaReta Darlene Gines Clark, age 74, passed away May 1, 2013 after a courageous battle with AML (leukemia). She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Darlene was born June 12, 1938 in Roosevelt, Utah, the second daughter of Alies and Lova Jones Gines. She grew up in Tabiona, Utah and graduated from Tabiona High School in May 1956. She belonged to the Pep Club and was a twirler in the Tabiona Band. Growing up she enjoyed games, reading and ice skating and really liked to swim, play softball and dance. Summer bonfires were especially fun, roasting marshmallows and laughing with family and friends. She met Ned Albert Clark, from Altona, Utah, and they were married December 12, 1956. She worked for First Security and Valley Bank and Trust for 22 years. During that time they were blessed with a daughter, Leslee DeAnn Clark Schindler. She later went on to become a pilot for Delta Air Lines. Darlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, received her endowments February 21, 1994 and sealed to her parents at that time. She served as secretary of the Sunday School and Primary, was Ward Librarian in two wards during which time she completely updated one library and brought the other one up to date. Her favorite calling was that of visiting teaching. She became life long best friends with many of the women she met while serving them. She was also a volunteer at the Bountiful Temple Prayer Line, a very special calling to her. In July of 2005 she became a grandmother to twins. Her very special grandchildren, Lucas Troy and Lyndsey DeAnn Schindler. She played many creative games with them so they were learning as they played. She helped care for them from the time they were born and was so loving and caring towards them. They were the joy of her life and she tried to care for them until the end.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslee; grandchildren, Lyndsey and Lucas; sister, Joyce (Gayle) Pettit; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Darlene would like to thank the staff at the BMT Clinic at LDS Hospital. In lieu of flowers she would like donations to be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
