David Joseph Lubbers

David Joseph Lubbers, 32, our beloved husband, son, and brother, passed away unexpectedly on October 10th, 2013. He was born to Kevan and Susan Lubbers in Salt Lake City, Utah. David was a master's student at the University of Utah with a passion for learning and a curiosity for the world. He worked on several electrical engineering projects with biomedical and geophysical applications. As part of his work studying polar sea ice, David took numerous research expeditions to the Arctic and the Antarctic, with reports on his activities reaching a worldwide audience. He also worked as a research intern at Amazon.com's Lab126, developing new, cutting-edge devices.
David loved his family, was unerringly kind to everyone he met and brilliantly creative. He was both technically and artistically talented and throughout his life he pursued a broad range of interests. As an avid marine aquarist, glass artist, and motorcyclist, David lived life to the fullest and will be whole-heartedly missed.
David is survived by his wife, Joyce Lin; his parents, Kevan and Susan Lubbers; and sisters, Karen Gomez and Ruth Smith.
A gathering in honor of his memory will be held on Friday, October 18th, 6-8pm at the cultural center in the LDS Church at 4195 S 6000 W, West Valley City. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
