He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; serving in two bishoprics, as a member of the High Council, and as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple.
Dean had a great sense of humor. He was the master of ceremonies of many high school class reunions and ward parties. He was always known for his quick wit and making those around him laugh.
