Dick Darwin Kunz

Dick Darwin Kunz
1944 ~ 2013
Dick Darwin Kunz was born on October 16, 1944 to Rachel and Morris Q. Kunz. After his mother's death at the age of 2½ he was raised by his father and second mother Ellen. He died July 24, 2013, three plus years after being diagnosed with bladder cancer.
Dick graduated from Granite High School in 1962. He enlisted in the US Navy (1962-1965) and served two tours of duty in the South China Sea aboard the USS Oriskany. Upon returning to Utah he met Barbara Whitson and they were married September 17, 1966. They raised three great sons and have 8 beautiful grandchildren.
Dick owned his own construction business, K&K Foundations. He had a very good work ethic and he tried to pass that on to all who worked with him. Dick had a unique ability to fix just about anything and was the ultimate storyteller. Dick coached Little League baseball for 13 years at West Jordan Park. He was such a positive influence on so many young men not only in baseball but in life. He also enjoyed dune buggies, fishing, camping and especially hunting. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and all the monopoly games they played. Our hearts are truly saddened at the loss of our loved one but we are thankful that Dick is finally free of the pain that ravaged his body. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have had him in our lives.
Dick is survived by his wife Barbara, and sons Dick Jr. (Robin), Keith (Allison), and Neil, and his special grandchildren, Mason, Jacob (Nicole), Tyler, Ashley, Dick III, Kaitlyn, Konnor and Madison. He also leaves a large extended family and many friends. Thanks to family, friends and co-workers for their support and prayers, to Tooele CNS Hospice (Andrea, Irene, Trisha and John). Special thanks to WesTech Engineering for all they have done for our family. To Dick one of the most important things in life is to find someone you love. So in his honor please do something special with your loved ones in lieu of flowers.
