1928 - 2013
Passed away peacefully with family at her side, the youngest of three daughters born to Curtis Greeley Green and Ruth Frances Anderson. She grew up on Parkway Avenue in Sugarhouse and attended Forest and Highland Park Elementary schools, Irving Junior High, then East High. Frances left Salt Lake for Mills College in Oakland, California and then returned to attend the University of Utah where she met and married Conway Sperry Snyder in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1948. She postponed her graduation from the University of Utah (BA, Elementary and Special Education) until 1980 so she could raise six children, Ruth Ann Davenport, Julie Stephens, Conway G. Snyder, Mark Snyder, Michael Snyder, who were all born in Salt Lake City, and Elaine Harding born in Chicago, Illinois while Con studied at Northwestern University
's school of dentistry. Frances is survived by her husband and children, dearest grandmother to 22 and great grandmother to 19. Frances spent her life in family and church service, educational pursuits and teaching elementary school. She loved music and the art of homemaking, especially sewing, quilting, knitting and weaving. Frances loved visiting with friends and extended family, including over a quilt; served as a church music director and led and participated in many church groups focused on service to children, women and sunday school. She enjoyed sharing her life and time with others whether in her home, a neighborhood sewing group of young girls or at the schools that were such a part of her life. Frances taught Special Ed at Indian Hills and Hawthorne Elementary schools. Later she taught first grade at Hawthorne and then Reading Recovery at Hawthorne and Jackson Elementary. She retired in 2002 but continued volunteering at Ensign Elementary to help children with literacy. Frances brought a smile to life and believed we were all "hand-made", one at a time, dedicating her energy to that process in family and community.
